Retinitis pigmentosa

inherited group of conditions - the sight deteriorates (inheritance is different, with the autosomal recessive and X-linked recessive being worse)

Triad =

• night blindness
• tunnel vision (years after night blindness usually)
• pigmented bony spicule (what the retina looks like) - discs are pale

Associated with:

• abetalipoproteinaemia
• Refsum's disease
• Usher's syndrome
• Bardet-Biedl (Lawrence-Moon-Biedl)
• Kaerns Sayre syndrome
