Cor pulmonale


Cor pulmonale is where the right ventricle doesn't work properly secondary to a lung problem

Findings

  • raised JVP
  • right ventricular heave
  • loud P2
  • tricuspid regurgitation
  • peripheral oedema
  • hepatomegaly
  • dilatation and hypertrophy of the right ventricle

...all due to extra hard working of the right ventricle to try and compensate
