Castleman's disease
rare lymphoproliferative condition
Uni-centre or multi-centre
(Uni- one node.....chop it out and the few symptoms go) (Multi- loadsa symptoms)
There is angiofollicular lymphoid hyperplasia. Two variants
- hyaline vascular
- plasma cell (even rarer!)
No known treatments
What you need to know (so you can recognise it on an MCQ in real life)
- Fever
- Hepatosplenomegaly
- Rashes, weight loss, night sweats (well, it IS lymphoproliferative)
- Polyclonal hypergammaglobulinaemia (loadsa Ig's)
- Paraneoplastic manifestations
