Median nerve
It supplies the meaty part of the hand (thenar eminance) [G: thenar = palmar + L: eminens = prominent]
(the radial don't do anything beyond the rist)
From the roots of C5 to T1 - (comprisingĀ 5 muscles I'll tell you only once)
- Abductor pollicis brevis [takes away + thumb + short]
- Opponens pollicis [opposes + thumb]
- Flexor pollicis brevis [flexes + thumb + short]
- 1st lumbrical (lateral) [worm like]
- ½ flexor digitorum profundus [flex + finger + deep]
This nerve gets squished in the carpal tunnel as it squeezes through the tiny gap between the carpus and the flexor retinaculum - this gives the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome [G: reticularis = net like] [L: carpus = wrist]
